K State Lee Sets Record

MANHATTAN, Kan. (AP) — Ayoka Lee scored 61 points to set the record for points in an NCAA Division I game and Kansas State has a 94-65 victory on the 14 Oklahoma Sunday.

Lee buried 23 of the 30 ground shots-all at 2 points – for the Wildcats (15-4, 5-2 Big 12 Conference).

Lee broke the record to play one game with 2:53 to play. Cindy Brown of Long Beach State scored 60 against San Jose State on Feb. 16 and Rachel Banham had 60 for Minnesota in February. 7 against Northwestern.

Lee scored 32 points in the first half to help Kansas State take the lead 51-27. She surpassed her 43-point school record effort-established in the first game this season – on an effort with 1:55 to do in the third quarter. The bucket gave K-State a lead of 66-49. Lee scored 49 points and K-State led 70-51 as the final period approached.

Lee, a junior, scored 14 points in the first quarter to help the Wildcats take a 19-11 lead. She managed 15 of 17 fouls in shooting and grabbed 12 rebounds for her 13th double-double of the season. The first year Serena Sundell scored 11 points, eight assists and five cartons.

Taylor Robertson defeated the Sooners (16-3, 5-2) by 19 points and Madi Williams scored 11 points. Robertson and Williams are just one of four tandems with an average of more than 18 points per game this season.

The Sooners broke through the top 15 this week for the first time since Nov. 28. Oklahoma averaged 88.3 points per game, the second-best in the country.

Kansas State takes the road to play Texas No. 15 Wednesday. Oklahoma is coming home to host Oklahoma State on Wednesday.
